What We Offer
Follow where God is calling you to be - supported by a loving faith community
We treat all people as human beings, not as sinners.
We are a radically inclusive, progressive church. The UAC welcomes all to our table, without exception. The UAC is progressive in thought, in expression, in theology, and in liturgy, while being respectful of and honoring our tradition. What tradition? Our tradition is grounded in the words, works, and example of Jesus, the Christ - the authentic spirituality that Jesus and other great spiritual teachers have taught throughout all of human history.
We believe in an Optimistic Religion that does not focus on Sin, Hell, Death, Failings, or Denying Pleasure. We believe that we are Spiritual Beings having a Human Experience. We will not be punished for eternity for our failings during our time as Human Beings.
Are You Exiled From Your Religious Past? Were You Discriminated Against By Your Church? Does Diversity Cause Fear?
No religious or belief system inspired or revealed to man has ever been universally accepted. None!
Leaving the religion of your childhood is a difficult proposition. We understand that. We also understand that the answers you were given as a child to those questions about life, death, and God seem unsatisfactory or incomplete now. We understand that we were given brains to use, that science teaches us about God’s universe and creation, and that history and culture play important roles in the development and spread of specific religious beliefs.
We firmly believe that to “question” is good. There is nothing wrong with being confused. We grow when we seek answers. We are uncomfortable with those who do claim to “know.” We do not claim to have the answers but we will join with you in the search for them. In the end, we believe in God’s love for Humanity.
Humanity has always struggled to understand God. For eons God was defined by each tribe in ways that captured what was missing from, or important to, their lives. We accept and acknowledge that other religious and belief systems reflect both a diversity and richness to Humanity’s understanding of God. This diversity is not meant to be frightening or demeaning to anyone. Rather diversity promotes a greater appreciation and acceptance of God’s benevolence towards everyone.
We seek to build a faith community where everyone is truly welcomed and respected, where no one is manipulated or coerced into feeling or believing in a particular way, but rather everyone is allowed to follow where God is calling them to be - supported by a loving faith community.
We will not tolerate discrimination of any kind. We are all God’s children deserving of respect, love and understanding. We grow and learn from each other. Each of us contributes to the tapestry of Humanity.
